Peter Longden - Aberdovey, Wales, 1961
I was planning to train in marine navigation with an apprenticeship and was advised that completing an Outward Bound course would be a good addition to have in my CV. I joined a course around Easter time at Aberdovey and had a very enjoyable 4 weeks (?)
My earlier scouting experience and family camping had prepared me for some of the outdoors activities but I really enjoyed the kayaking which was new to me. 20 years later I came back to kayaking helping to form a club affiliated to the BCU which continues today although I am now not active in the sport.
The Cader Irish day walk remains about the longest one day walk I have done although many years later bush walking in NZ proved just a bit harder.
