Stephen Slapper - Eskdale, The Lake District, 1975
Hi was invited by my Company to attend Eskdale in April 1975 at the age of 18 and joined Scott patrol on the 14th April for 1 month, it was for me brilliant, mountains were my passion, so to be asked or told outward bound for a month and do us proud boy, off I went gladly and paid for it heaven. The best month ever, such fond memories of the guys. Revisited Eskdale Outward bound center yesterday and found our patrol notes written by our captain and seen the group photo, wow what a place, my memory of the grand house and tarn came flooding back. With some tears later that evrning while toasting my time.
Still climbing mountains with a heart bypass and failing sight. Outward Bound keeps on inspiring me after all these years. My cloth badge has been on all my sacks and up many a track.
With thanks from a young runaway who loved the mountains. Steve Slapper Scott Patrol 251 14th April 1975
