Tom Inglis - Moray Sea School, Burghead Scotland, 1957
As a prospective Midshipman in Blue Funnel Line, I attended Outward Bound Moray Sea School in September1957. This was course 72 and I was in Rodney watch. There were three other Blue Funnel candidates on the course, Namely Denis Gallagher, Ian Reid and Ian Morrison. I can identify myself in the course photograph above as the 6th from left in back row. We all joined Blue Funnel and sailed on our first voyages in November 1957. I sailed from London to the Far East on "Monmouthshire .
I remained at sea with Blue Funnel until I qualified as Master Mariner. I then spent 5 year in Indonesia as the Blue Funnel representative there. Then I spent 5 years in Taiwan managing a shipping agency at the beginning of the container era.
In 1977 I returned to UK and became involved in Logistics with a Cargill Inc. Company . Retired as Logistics Director in 2001. Now live in North Herefordshire..
My time at Outward Bound helped me to gain confidence in myself and this has stood me in good stead throughout my career at sea and in Industry.
