What you'll be doing...

You’ll be contributing to the adventurous experience for our customers attending an Outward Bound course. Your ability to make great food is a vital part of our mission. A critical part of an Outward Bound residential is eating food that fuels big adventures and tastes amazing.

Our Eskdale Centre is a one hundred bedded outdoor education centre, consisting of a variety of buildings from a Grade Listed II main house to more modern accommodation areas all set in amazing grounds. We work with young people aged 16-25 who are in the early stages of their careers. We value our catering and hospitality team greatly.

The Lead Chef is a hands-on role and is responsible for providing the day to day catering provision, plus the leadership and management of all aspects of the catering department.

If you join us, you'll be leading a catering team of approximately 5 staff, working in large spacious kitchens, providing wholesome, home cooked meals for up to 104 people.

You will make a difference

Our hospitality team play a very important role in the experience that course participants and guests have whilst at the centre.

This job is much more than just cooking. You’ll be part of something really worthwhile. Outward Bound is a charity. Thousands of young people come to our centres every year for a few days of outdoor learning and adventure.

Your food will give them the energy to get to the top of a mountain, row across the lake and climb up a waterfall. Without you, they simply won't have the physical energy to power through their week.
